Happy 100th Birthday Lucille Ball!

I grew up with the comedic genius of Lucille Ball, and I recognize her in many comediennes today. I still smile when I see her. I don't know how she could pull off some of her physical comedy and still keep a straight face or without cracking up everyone around her. I thought the little TV Google put out today to celebrate her 100th birthday was so sweet, so I'm including it here. Enjoy!

My Favorite Card Making Accessory

The new Stampin' Up! Catalog has been out a month now, and I thought I'd share my favorite card making accessory... well, I can't really choose one, so how about my top three?

Designer Paper
I just adore Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Papers featured on pages 184-186 of the new Stampin' Up! catalog. One of my very favorites is Well Worn (122359). With a sophisticated yet neutral color palette, these papers can go just about anywhere! And these will definitely be one of my go-to papers for any cards for guys I need.

Stock up on your favorites in August with the Buy-3-Get-1-Free Promotion.

Ribbon & Trim

My favorite Stampin' Up! ribbon is the new sweet & feminine 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon (page 194) featured in all the new In Colors. I love the ribbon in Wisteria Wonder (122973).

Designer Printed Brads

These brads really give your projects a custom look and come in five of the In Colors... I think my favorite here is Island Indigo.

What's your favorite accessory from the new Stampin' Up! catalog?

Unique Homemade Gift Ideas: Stamping on Tile

Expand your horizons (and save money) with some unique homemade gift ideas.

If you've stamped for any length of time you've probably figured out you can use your stamps for much more than just paper crafting. One of the most popular classes I teach is stamping on tile. In the class we make a set of four tile coasters to keep or to give as a unique gift.

If you'd like to try making these on your own you can pick up the tiles at one of the large home improvement stores.

Using the stamp Sail Away from the 2011 Summer Catalog you can make these tiles quickly and inexpensively for some unique inexpensive gifts.

Graduation Mini Album Ideas

I got this and other graduation mini album ideas from Stampin' Success, a monthly magazine I receive from Stampin' Up!

One of the things I love about being a demonstrator is I never have to come up with my own original ideas if I don't want to! Stampin' Success has more ideas and instructions than I could ever use in a month -- projects for my workshops, classes, or just for my personal stamping... and some projects I will probably never try, but are so inspiring in their creativity! Then there's the online Stampin' Up! demonstrator community, Stampin' Connection, where demonstrators from all over share ideas!

I made this mini scrapbook album for my son's girlfriend in celebration of their big event. It's a matchbook style and holds four removable photo cards. She loved it! Thanks Stampin' Up! for the great idea!

Today is the last day for the $99 special to join Stampin' Up! Plus you'll get a free Christmas Keepsake Box project kit valued at $40 with your first order. If you're interested in joining my team you can get all the information HERE.

Stampin' Up! Card Ideas Northern Flurry

I realize it's still summer, but it's never too early to begin plannning your designs and purchases for your Stampin' Up! card ideas for making holiday cards!

On this card the focus is really the dramatic and romantic embossed snowflakes. They were so easy to make with the Big Shot (113439) and the Northern Flurries textured embossing folder.

If you're like me, you're always looking for ways to save a little more. Well, you can save money on those homemade cards because they only cost me 57 cents each to make. Add the envelope and I'm up to 77 cents per card, not a bad price for homemade cards! These cards are so simple to make, you could easily whip out 50 or more in one day.

With all the sentiments available in the stamp set Fabulous Phrases (wood-117002/clear-120501) you could use this card for any occasion.

Don't have the Big Shot yet? Why not? It's so versatile, you can emboss and die-cut card stock, metal, leather, chip board, fabric, and more! It adds a lot to your projects without a lot of expensive embellishments, so it will pay for itself in no time. You'll love using it, and it's portable so you can carry it with you to your crops and other crafting get-togethers.

Rubber Stamping Tips Labeling Sponges

I am always searching for rubber stamping tips to help me stay more organized (a challenge for sure), and labeling sponges is a great one.

I originally picked up this tip from one of my team members and loved it. I am finally getting around to implementing it and thought I'd share it with you.

Note: You will need two sets of Stamping Sponges (101610 - set of 3) for all 50 colors.

Take the Stamping Sponges and cut each one into four even sections. Take each of those sections and cut in half, for a total of eight sections from one sponge.

Using your scrap card stock and the Round Tab Punch (119864), punch out one tab from each of the 50 colors. Fold punched pieces in half to create your label.

Write or label each tab with the corresponding color name. I just used my label maker for this part and cut the labels down before attaching.

Now staple each punched tab to the corresponding sponge piece. Store each color group in a ziploc bag to make them easy to find when searching for a particular color. I have a drawer for my sponges and will just store the filled ziploc baggies in there.

As many of you know, I use my Stamping Sponges all the time, and now I no longer will be searching for a close "red" or "green" or "blue" sponge and worrying about the previous color contaminating my ink pad or stamped piece. Of course, you can also wash out your sponges.

I think this is right up there in my top rubber stamping tips list for organizing your craft space! What do you think?

Ice Cream Handmade Card

Today is the anniversary of one of my favorite summertime treats, the ice cream cone! Charles E. Minches invented it on July 23, 1904, when he filled a pastry cone with two scoops of ice cream. My hero!

I love ice cream, and if that's not a reason to celebrate I don't know what is, so I came up with this sweet card for the occasion! It uses one of the folders from the new Designer Frames Embossing Folders Set (123130) and the Big Shot (113439). I love how you can highlight a certain element on your card with these sophisticated embossed frames!

Watercolor Stamping Faith in Nature

At my Hostess Appreciation Party a few weeks ago we made a couple of cards using an awesome and dramatic technique called Embedded Embossing, and this is one of the projects we did. I also showed them how to do watercolor stamping using our Stampin' Write Markers (pages 176-190) and Blender Pens (102845) on Watercolor Paper (122959)!

Would you like to learn how to do these techniques for free? Just invite some friends over for a fun Stampin' Up! party. Contact Me to schedule your own show and earn some free stamps & accessories, too!
