Home Based Jobs; Virtual Jobs; Work at Home Moms
Are you looking for home based jobs to help get you through the recession or out of that dead-end 9-to-5 thankless job? Maybe you have young children and would like to make money from home so you can raise your kids.
It's Tough Out There!
As I write this we are coming upon a new year and the economy is still struggling. I'm hearing about businesses going under all the time, and it seems as if every time I leave my house I'm driving by another place with "Going Out of Business" signs. Of course, that means more lost jobs, lost income, less spending elsewhere, and then another sign, "Going Out of Business!" Just the other day my sister-in-law told me they have laid off HALF of their company!
Let's face it, things are scary out there right now. When will it end?If you're worried about the economy, you are not alone. Things are tough out there right now. Why wait until something happens to your family's income? Start a home-based business now so that if the worst does happen to interrupt your finances you will already be on your way to building another income stream. Isn't it better to work an extra 5 to 10 hours a week now to build your business than waiting for the worst case scenario to happen and then find yourself scrambling to pay the bills and save your home?

"The Rise of the Homepreneur,"
Oct. 23, 2009, "More than half of all U.S. businesses are based at home. These companies often are dismissed as quaint hobbyist ventures, but new research suggests that's a mistake."

Virtual Jobs; Online Business Ideas
With the explosion of computers and the internet there are so many ways to make money online now, and you may have even tried a few: eBay and Craigslist being the more familiar. If you make your living over the internet you can work from anywhere in the world! One of my favorite recent books is The 4-Hour Workweek, Expanded and Updated. by Timothy Ferris. He talks about how he works virtually from all over the world, and it is quite an interesting read. You could get a job as a virtual assistant; you could become a freelance writer; you can open up an internet store. Or my favorite, Become an Infopreneur!
What is an Infopreneur?
An infopreneur is someone who writes about a topic they are passionate about. They are willing to learn more about their chosen subject and are willing to share that knowledge with the world for free. For example, an infopreneur could write about golf, maybe how to improve your game or all the great courses. How about your love of juggling? Maybe all the tips and tricks you know for managing a busy family and keeping your house neat and orderly?
How Does an Infopreneur Make Money?
Diverification is key! It's never a good idea to rely on only one source of income -- all your eggs in one basket -- because what will happen if something disrupts that income flow i.e. being laid off from a job? The same is true for your website. And while you could set up a tip jar on your website asking for donations, it might be prudent to create a number of different revenue streams to generate income.
There are many ways to monetize your website depending on your particular situation, and I have used a few on this site. One is to join a network marketing company such as Stampin' Up! and use the website to generate leads for customers and sales. Google AdSense may be an option for you. These are ads placed on your website that are related to the site's main subject. When you go to a website and see these ads, if you click on one of them the owner of that website is making money. Depending on how much the keyword for the ad is worth, they could be making pennies or dollars for each click. Of course, the key here is having a large volume of visitors to your site so those pennies and dollars add up quickly. Affiliate marketing is another way to generate money with your website. This is where you agree to display/advertise a company's products on your site, and for each sale generated you make a commission. Of course, you only want to feature products you believe in and use yourself. It's not about selling, it's about building trust and then giving your visitors what they are looking for! Selling your own product -- an eBook, a gizmo you have created, your own line of jewelry, etc. You can sell advertisements for offline businesses yourself. Or referrals. There are so many different ways to make money from a website. Be creative! Is it a means of getting rich quick? No! Being an infopreneur is hard work! Just like any successful offline business, it takes time to build up a successful business online. But as time goes on and you keep steadily working your 5 to 10 hours a week, you gradually see that income grow and grow. Can it ever replace your current income? Perhaps, depending on your niche subject and the CTPM. But done properly it can definitely build another stream of income into the home, and who can't use that?
