Sail Away Stamping on Tile

Stamping on Tile
Expand your horizons and give stamping on tile a go.
If you've stamped for any length of time you've probably figured out you can use your stamps for much more than just paper crafting. One of the most popular classes I teach is stamping on tile where we make a set of four tile coasters to keep or for gift giving. Contact me if you'd like to schedule one of these classes in your home for you & your friends. If you'd like to try this on your own you can pick up the tiles at the large home improvement stores.
There are a number of ways you can stamp on tile. In this example I used the Jet Black StazOn ink pad (101406) to stamp the Sail Away stamp (123013) from the 2011 Summer Mini Catalog by Stampin' Up!. StazOn is great for stamping on non-porous and non-traditional surfaces like metal, plastic, wood, tiles, etc.
I used a Blender Pen (102845) and my Stampin' Pastels (120962) to color in the image. When using your blender pens with your pastels you want to be sure to designate a certain portion of your chalks for the pen, say bottom right corner. This way the balance of the square will remain "chalky" and not harden from the application of the liquid.
When using your Stampin' Pastels on the tiles you will want to apply a couple coats of a spray finish over it to seal in the chalk... I like to use a matte finish.
Once your tiles are done affix some felt circles to the bottom corners to protect your furniture surfaces. If you're giving as a gift, tie up four of them in some pretty ribbon and you're good to go!
